What a Session Looks Like

What it is
Instead of focusing on breadth, we pride ourselves on our depth of impact. Every Project Pacemaker lesson is one to one. A volunteer sits down with one person at one keyboard, and the time belongs to them — no class to keep up with, no pace set by anyone else.
We'd rather help a beginner who's self-conscious about their hands or a former player working around arthritis who needs someone paying attention to them specifically.
Our Mission
Our mission is to expand access to music by empowering seniors, students, and teachers to learn the joy of playing piano first hand.
We believe in the healing power of music, and the evidence backs it up. Research — including our own — shows that music can uplift mood, support mental health, and benefit cardiovascular and physical well-being. That's why access matters.
Scheduling
Our organization is highly flexible about scheduling. Typically, we give piano lessons at local senior centers every week. Each lesson may last for 30 minutes to half and hour - it all depends on the student.
